One of the greatest gifts you can offer an engaged couple is the witness of your own marriage.
As a mentor couple, you are not asked to have a perfect marriage or all the answers. In this model, you are called to accompany an engaged couple with honesty, hospitality, and a desire to help them build a Christ-centered marriage. Through your witness, conversations, and friendship, you become a living extension of your parish, welcoming engaged couples into the life of the Church and helping them discover the beauty of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

DISCERNING THE CALL TO BECOME A MENTOR COUPLE?
Mentor couples are selected and commissioned through their parish. If you have a heart for accompanying engaged couples and believe God may be calling you to this ministry, begin by speaking with your pastor, parish marriage coordinator, or parish representative. Your parish will help discern whether this ministry is a good fit and connect you with the training and formation needed to begin.

We believe every engaged couple deserves mentor couples who are well formed, well prepared, and faithful to the Church's vision for marriage. That's why we invest deeply in every mentor couple before they ever begin accompanying others.
Through comprehensive formation, practical training, and thoughtfully developed resources, mentor couples are equipped to confidently lead meaningful conversations, faithfully present Catholic teaching, and accompany engaged couples with wisdom, humility, and compassion.
Our formation includes:
A deep understanding of the Sacrament of Matrimony and the theology of unity
Scripture and the Catechism as the foundation for every session
Training in mentorship, accompaniment, and meaningful conversation
Guidance for fostering hospitality, trust, and confidentiality
A complete six-session formation framework with mentor guides and participant resources
Ongoing support from our ministry team whenever questions arise
We don't simply hand mentor couples a workbook and hope for the best. We intentionally form them so they can faithfully form others. When mentor couples are well prepared, engaged couples receive the guidance they deserve, and parishes can trust that every conversation is rooted in the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith.

You don't need a degree in theology or counseling! You simply need to be a practicing Catholic couple, married in the Church (typically for at least 5 years), who love your marriage and want to support couples starting their journey. Authentic hospitality and a willingness to share your experience are the main requirements.

Each engaged couple represents a commitment of about 6 sessions (roughly 10–12 total hours of meeting time spread over the engagement period), plus a brief review of materials beforehand. Most mentor couples host 1 to 3 engaged couples per year, depending on their own schedule and availability.

You receive full training that covers facilitation techniques, discussion prompts, key topics, homework, videos, and support. You will also get a detailed Mentor Guide that walks you step-by-step through every meeting, so you never have to guess what to say or do.
