YOUR MARRIAGE JOURNEY BEGINS IN THE CHURCH
Marriage preparation is more than a requirement before your wedding day. It is an invitation into encounter—with Christ, with His Church, and with the couples who will accompany you during this season of preparation.
In Home Catholic Marriage Prep is a 6-session journey completed through your local parish and led by faithful mentor couples who have been carefully formed and trained to walk with you.
Between each session, you will complete guided exercises designed to help you reflect together, communicate more deeply, and grow in unity as a couple.
This is not something you do alone. It is a shared journey of formation in the Church.
THE SIX-SESSION OVERVIEW
1. Prepare Together | Before each gathering, you will complete guided exercises designed to help you reflect on your relationship, communication, faith, and expectations for marriage. These are completed individually and then shared with one another.
2. Meet with Your Mentor Couple | You will gather in a Catholic home for a two-hour session with a trained mentor couple. Together, you will discuss your reflections, go deeper into key themes, and hear the lived witness of a sacramental marriage through conversation and story.
3. Continue the Conversation | Each session ends with additional reflection questions and exercises to continue your dialogue between meetings. This ongoing rhythm helps you grow in honesty, understanding, and unity throughout your engagement.
The final session focuses specifically on the Sacrament of Matrimony, and when possible, a priest may join this conversation.
4. Carry It Into Your Marriage | What you invest in during this journey will continue to bear fruit long after your wedding day. The habits of communication, prayer, and reflection you develop are meant to serve your marriage for a lifetime.
This is not classroom instruction.

The standard program typically consists of 6 sessions. Each meeting lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. Because you schedule meetings directly with your mentor couple, you can comfortably complete the program over a few weeks or months leading up to your wedding date.

You are very welcome! Many couples going through marriage prep come from interfaith or ecumenical backgrounds. The atmosphere is warm, open, and conversational—designed to foster honest dialogue about shared values, mutual respect, and family life.
